Recommendation #9 To: University, California State

To ensure that it identifies systemwide trends and makes appropriate recommendations to address health and safety issues, the Chancellor's Office should ensure that the systemwide joint committee meets and fulfills its responsibilities in accordance with the bargaining agreement by actively working with the union on an ongoing basis.

6-Month Agency Response

As reported in our 60-day response, the systemwide joint committee was formed and subsequently held its first meeting on June 7, 2018. The committee held its second meeting on October 4, 2018, and a third meeting is scheduled for January 10, 2019. The committee will continue to meet quarterly.

60-Day Agency Response

The systemwide joint committee was formed and held its first meeting on June 7, 2018. The committee plans to meet approximately every three months. Because half of the 12-member committee consists of union members, conducting regular meetings will ensure that the committee is actively working with the union on an ongoing basis.

California State Auditor's Assessment of 60-Day Status: Pending
