Report 2015-032: California's Postsecondary Educational Institutions: More Guidance Is Needed to Increase Compliance With Federal Crime Reporting Requirements (Release Date: July 2015)

Recommendation #5 To: Shasta College

Shasta should review and adhere to applicable guidance related to the Clery Act, including the OPE handbook and the Uniform Crime Reporting Handbook, to ensure that it is accurately reporting its crime statistics.

60-Day Agency Response

Shasta College implemented a several step tiered based process for accurately reporting and accounting for crimes on it's campuses. Shasta College Campus Safety conducted an internal audit of it's procedures and now accounts for this documentation with a several step process of approval.

In addition the college has implemented a 5 step approach to approval of the Annual Security Report.

The supporting procedure report has been submitted to California State Auditors.
